On Friday, March 14, the Atlanta rapper dropped his new LP I AM MUSIC via AWGE/Interscope Records. His album contains 30 tracks but doesn't include any singles he dropped within the past year. The tracklist features fresh collaborations with Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Skepta, Future, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Uzi Vert, Ty Dolla $ign, and Young Thug. La Flame appears on the album three times. Playboi Carti finally announced the release date for I AM MUSIC earlier this week after spending the past two years teasing the album's existence. Fans believed the release date was real this time due to the recent flood of billboards that promoted the album and various notifications about merch being shipped out to fans who pre-ordered the album. Carti also told streamers like Kai Cenat and Akademiks that he planned to drop the album on Friday. Fans were distraught after the album didn't arrive at midnight, however, he told Cenat the album was delayed due to sample clearances.

The Opium founder plans to perform new songs from his long-awaited album live for the first time during his headlining set at Rolling Loud California this weekend. He'll hit the stage at Hollywood Park on Sunday to close out the festival following headlining performances from A$AP Rocky and Peso Pluma.
