Lauren Graham Has A 'Gilmore Girls' Clause In All Her Other Work Contracts

Premiere Of Netflix's "Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life" - Arrivals

Is this a sign that more Gilmore Girls is on the way?

On Wednesday (March 24), Lauren Graham—who played Lorelai Gilmore for seven seasons, as well as on the Netflix revival of Gilmore Girls—revealed she includes a special clause in all her work contracts that allows her to return to the show that made her a household name.

“I put that window into all my new jobs just in case,” Graham said in the interview, according to Us Weekly. “And it’s not — I don’t want to start any new rumors — it’s not for any concrete reason.”

While fans have hoped to see a continuation of the revival series A Year In The Life, Graham confirmed nothing in the works at the moment. Despite that, she's as loyal to the series as the show's dedicated fans. Should an opportunity for another revival come about, she wants to make sure she's available.

“I have a loyalty and an openness to working with [Amy Sherman-Palladino], first of all," Graham explained. "And because we could never have predicted [a revival] in the past, so that door is open. Is it creatively warranted? Is it, you know, something? I don’t know. I don’t know. But yes, technically yes."

To make sure she can say yes to more Gilmore Girls when the time is right, she adds the special clause to her contract. The actress explained that because shows are “so restrictive now” she wants to make sure she can “carve out some pockets [of time] just in case.”

Series creator Sherman-Palladino recently spoke about the possibility of more Gilmore Girls during a virtual Woodstock Film Festival panel. “[A Year in the Life] was one of those kismet moments where we were kind of all looking at each other and going, ‘Well, let’s take a couple of months and hang out together and remind each other why we drove each other crazy.’ And it was a wonderful experience,” she said. “I really do believe that if the time is right and the girls are where they need to be in their lives [it could happen]. They all have things …But if that [kismet] moment presents itself again, [we’d do it] in a hot second.”
