If you thought the first season of You was peak horror, think again. According to what showrunner Sera Gamble told Us Weekly, Netflixâs second season of the Lifetimeâs original psychological thriller series will be even âdarker than season one.â
During an exclusive chat with the publication, Gamble warned You followers that Season 2 wonât being paring any of the creepiness that had watchers like Millie Bobby Brown obsessed. âI would say that season 2 of You, kind of, doubles down on some of the stuff that you might come to expect,â she explained.
As you know, Lifetime passed up making a second season and changed the guard over the Netflix in December 2018.
Trailing the bloody events of Season 1, which was adapted from Caroline Kepnesâ book of the same name, Penn Badgleyâs obsessive Joe Goldberg finds himself moving to Los Angeles in the follow-up based on Kepnesâ 2016 sequel, Hidden Bodies. Whatâs more, though, Gamble says the relocation will bring out âa whole different sideâ of the serial killer.
This seems constant with what she had to share in another interview with TV Guide, in which she teases a scene thatâs particularly âgorier and scarier than anything we had in Season 1.â
âYou will know it when you see it,â she added. âEpisode 2 of the season has my single favorite shot that I have been a part of in my entire career. My career is full of blood and gore and monsters. Itâs also beautifully shot and the director who shot the second episode lavished a lot of love. Joe is forced to do something he really doesnât want to do.â
