JIDENNA has been an open voice for political activism, bringing attention to his Nigerian culture and roots as well as not to "label" him anything but simply a creative, an artist.
"Classic Man" was a no-wonder radio hit, but the singer/rapper makes it apparent that he cannot be boxed in. With other mainstream artists taking the singing and rapping route, Jidenna decided to up them one more with an acting debut as well, in the first season of HBO's 'Insecure.'
The new EP entitled "Boomerang" is no longer than six tracks with just a few features. As I'm typing this review, I myself had to replay "Spy Candy" featuring Tiwa Savage.
There's a hard description to the flow of his music, other than some great lounge music.
But don't fret, Jidenna is still a lyricist but pays attention to melody - if you didn't know. He showcases his dedication to symphonic harmony on the "Bambi" remix with Quavo, Maleek Berry and Sarcodie.
Fans are also meet with a "LIttle Bit More" remix featuring Burna Boy and Wale pops up on the track "Out of Body."
All in all, the project is a good short listening session, but I think fans would love to hear more of a dedication to either side of the spectrum - either super "hard" lyrics/bars or some really melodic songs "for the women."
